Alpha-Wave Inducer - Device used to enhance sleep in humanoids, but only meant for occasional use.

Anti-Grav Stretcher - Portable medical stretcher used to move patients needing only one person to operate.

Autosuture - A medical instrument used for wound closures.

Bajoran Medical Index - Database consulted when tracking the whereabouts of Bajoran medical personnel.

Battlefield Trauma Kit - Small packet of medical supplies used to dress wounds in the field.

Biocontainment Field - Force field used for containment of infectious material aboard Federation starships.

Biofilter - A device built into the transporter that scans for, and filters out, many kinds of known hazardous bacteria and viruses. It is not effective against organisms for which it has not been programmed.

Bioimplant - Artificial organic material that can be surgically implanted into a persons body to replace damaged tissue (*See Parthenogenic implant).

Biopump - Alien "hydraulic" system used to flush a fluid through the Axanar corpses in order to extract triglobulin.

Bioregenerative Field - Radiated energy used in biomedical applications to accelerate cellular growth, especially useful to accelerate the growth of a cloned individual.

Bio-Temporal Chamber - The chamber uses a bio-temporal field to push the patients cells into an earlier stage of entropic decay.

Blood-Gas Infuser - Medical instrument used to stabilize oxygen levels of a patient in respiratory distress.

Breathing Apparatus - A device which allows the user to breathe in a hostile atmosphere.

Cardio-Stimulator - Medical instrument used to revive patients that have suffered cardiac arrest or to support heart activity, available both as a hand-held unit and built into the cryo-surgical support frame.

Cellular Regeneration and Entertainment Chamber - Experimental medical treatment device intended to make humanoid patients effectively immortal by keeping their cells entertained.

Cortical Stimulator - Medical instrument used to revitalize neural activity in a humanoid nervous system.

Containment Field - Specially shaped force field used to isolate dangerous materials such as anti-matter or biohazard specimens.

Cryostasis Chamber - Storage device used to preserve living beings at cryogenic temperatures for later revival.

Cytoplasmic Stimulator - Medical instrument used to stabilize cellular toxicity.

Decompression Chamber - Medical treatment facility aboard Federation starships for patients requiring exposure to atmospheric pressures other than Class-M normal.

Decon Chamber - An enclosed compartment for the elimination of harmful substances and organisms from the body. Early starships had a decon chamber for use upon return to the ship from a planet. The chamber is lit with ultraviolet light and features small compartments labeled alphabetically for the transfer of decon-gel.  A stay in the decon chamber appears to be a pleasurable experience much like being in a sauna.

Dermal Regenerator - Starfleet medical instrument used to repair damaged epidermal tissue.

Delta Wave Inducer - Medical instrument used to induce sleep.

Detronal Scanner - Medical instrument used to read and encode the DNA patterns of living tissue.

Drechtal Beams - Surgical device used to sever neural connections.

Electron Resonance Scanner - Medical imaging device.

Emergency Medical Hologram - Holographic program intended as a short-term supplement to medical personnel in emergency situations.

Environmental Suit - Protective garments designed to maintain life-support in hostile environments.

Exoscalpel - Surgical instrument used to incise skin and expose underlying tissue.

Genetronic Replicator - Developed by neurogeneticist Doctor Toby Russell, a medical device able to translate a particular genetic code into a specific set of replication directions which instruct the replicative device to "grow" a fitting replacement organ.

Genotron - Medical device used by Vidiian scientists to reconstruct a person's entire genome.

Hypospray - Medical instrument used for subcutaneous and intramuscular administration of medications.

Isomiotic Hypo - Medical instrument, can be combined with other components to create a biogenic weapon.

Isomolecular Scanner - Advanced medical diagnostic device useful in the study of alien life forms with very alien physiologies.

Isotropic Restraint - Medical force field used to hold a patient totally immobile.

K-3 Indicator - Medical instrument used to measure neural activity that corresponds to the level of pain as it is being experienced by a patient. Aboard Constitution-class starships, the biobed monitors included a K-3 indicator.

Magnesite-Nitron Tablet - This small tablet, when crushed, provides emergency illumination and heat through a bright flame. Usually carried as part of an emergency medical field kit, the tablets could also be employed for ignition of a larger fire, heating of food or sterilization of water.

Medical Diagnostic Bed (Biobed) - Hospital bed that includes medical sensors and display units for diagnosis and gas and fluid connect points for treatment of patients. The primary biobed, typically located in the center of a starship sickbay, is equipped with an additional overhead sensor cluster and a containment field generator and serves for surgical and other intensive-care procedures.

Medical Kits (MedKit) - Medical supply modules stored in bulk aboard Federation starships for emergency relief missions containing a medical tricorder, hypospray, a dermal regenerator and a battlefield trauma kit.

Medical Tricorder - Diagnostic tool used by medical personnel to determine injury, illness, etc.

Microsuture - Surgical technology for knitting tissue at the cellular level.

Motor Assist Bands - Several four-centimeter wide, electronically sensitive strap-like devices used with neurologically damaged patients in assisting motor recovery. By providing electrical stimulation to the patient's limbs, injured or damaged muscles can be successfully retrained.

Nanites - Submicroscopic robots originally designed to perform medical functions within the bloodstream of a living organism. Such functions could encompass intracellular surgery, eliminating individual disease cells, or removing clotted material from a blood vessel, and more.

Nanoprobes - Microscopic devices that are programmed to assimilate a living organism to a Borg drone. Once injected to the blood stream, the nanoprobes take control of the organism and form the first Borg implants.

Neo-Cortical Probe - Medical instrument capable of precision manipulation of neural proteins on an extremely small scale.

Neural Calipers - Medical instrument used in surgical procedures.

Neural Implant - One of the elements that, when combined with others, allows the sightless to see. The neural implants function as the bioelectrical interface between the visual cortex and the VISOR. They consist of two bilateral implants in the temporal regions of the skull and feed directly into the visual cortex. A portion of the implants must remain external to allow for the direct connection of the VISOR to the head.

Neural Output Pods - A specific component of the VISOR worn by the sightless that enables him or her to see. This component of the VISOR transmits the visual data directly into brain.

Neural Stimulator - Medical instrument used to increase neural activity in the central nervous system.

Neural Transducers - Implantable bioelectric devices that receive nerve impulses from the brain and transmit it to affected voluntary muscle groups.

Neural Imaging Scan - Medical diagnostic scan used to test acuity of a patients visual cortex.

Neural Modulator - Medical device that can be used to relieve minor muscular pains.

Neurocortical Monitor - Small medical sensor device that could be placed on a patients forehead to record encephalographic data.

Neuroelectrical Suppresser - Medical instrument used to suppress pain.

Neurolink - Emergency medical technique used for the stabilization of patients with brain stem injuries.

Neuropathway Induction - Medical procedure used to repair damaged neural pathway in a humanoid brain.

Neuroregeneration - Medical technique sometimes effective in treating Yarim Fel Syndrome.

Neuro Sequencer - Medical device used to stabilize the cerebral cortex.

Neurosynaptic Relay - Medical device used to record a subjects neuroelectric activity.

Osteogenic Stimulator - Medical device used to accelerate healing of bone fractures.

Parthenogenic Implant - An artificial device surgically implanted in the human body.

Phoretic Analyzer - Biomedical analysis device.

Physiostimulator - Medical instrument used to elevate metabolic functions in a impaired individual.

Plasma Infusion Unit - Medical device used to dispense fluids and electrolytes.

Protodynoplaser - Medical instruments used to stabilize immune systems.

Psychotricorder - Instrument used to record past memories.

Pulmonary Scanner - Medical device used in running a respiratory series.

Pulmonary Support Unit - Emergency cardio-pulmonary support unit.

Quarantine Pods - Specialized medical equipment.

Quarantine Transmitter - These radio beacons are standard equipment onboard Federation starships and are capable of transmitting automated warning messages to send other ships away should a ship and its crew becomes dangerously contaminated with a plague or other infection.

Quarantine Seal (Medical Quarantine Field) - Force field used to isolate potentially hazardous biological specimens in sickbay and other laboratory facilities on starships.

Somnetic Inducer - A small neural pad used to aid in the induction of sleep in humanoids.

Sonic Separator - A non-Federation medical instrument employed on planet Sigma Draconis VI to restore a patients brain to his/her body.

Stasis Unit - Device can hold a patient in suspended animation until medical treatment can be rendered, can also preserve the body of a deceased individual until burial.

Styrolite - Clear plastic-like material used for biologic quarantine of potentially hazardous life forms.

Sub-Dermal Bioprobe - Small medical device that could be implanted just under a patients skin, used to transmit biochemistry readings.

Surgical Scrubber - Device employing an irradiating field to clean and disinfect a physicians hands prior to surgery.

T-Cell Stimulator - This device increases the production of T-cells.

Tissue Mitigator - Medical instrument used in surgical procedures.

Thrombic Modulator - Medical instrument used to assist in blood coagulation.

Trilaser Connector - Medical instrument used in an effort to restore a patients brain to his/her body.

VISOR - Acronym for Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement, a device used to overcome blindness. By 2373, the VISOR has been replaced by ocular implants.
